Insurance Costs Cut with AI-Enhanced Driver Profiling
Mercia Fleet Management (Mercia), the fleet management division of EV salary sacrifice specialist Fleet Evolution, successfully lowers insurance costs by leveraging AI-enhanced driver profiling and accident damage assessment.
Many insurers have been increasing premiums across the board. A well-known comparison website reports a 43% increase in premiums over the last 12 months. Despite this trend, Mercia has reduced insurance costs by up to 25%.
Collaboration with Konsileo Commercial Insurance
By partnering with the award-winning London-based broker Konsileo Commercial Insurance and analysing data from a client’s 1,000-strong vehicle fleet, Mercia identified several key interventions that contributed to lowering insurance costs. These interventions included:
- Driver profiling and remedial behaviour training
- Spatial awareness training for car park or kerbside incidents
- Licence checking
- Vehicle risk management and assessment

“High on the list of best practice interventions was AI-enhanced driver profiling using a traffic light and points-based system to identify the most at-risk drivers and to implement remedial training where appropriate.
“The carefully selected interventions across the fleet led to us securing a 25% reduction in insurance premiums – at a time when insurance costs are generally increasing across the board.
“These interventions work for fleets of all sizes, and we would be happy to discuss with smaller clients how these processes and interventions can help them reduce the cost of their insurance premiums.”
